Learning Experience of Glow From Zero !
The day I got to know that I had a chance of joining the Glow From Zero 2.0, I pretty much jumped at the chance! Well, to be quite honest, I was actually very nervous!
As I am also part of the academy’s staff, I have had seen how the course was run and organized. But being part of the course, and being seated and listening to the teacher, the experience was way beyond what I was expecting.
Haven’t attended a proper course since my emcee graduation last March 2018, I was a little taken aback how fruitful it could be. The very first day of the course was mostly about MCJO taking her time in explaining and sharing the tips of emceeing.
From what I had learnt as a Wedding Premium Season 4 student in 2017, this Glow From Zero course was more compact and intense. Since I have only ever been trained in emceeing a wedding event, through this course, it has truly opened my eyes on other important events as well.

How could one know that there’d be so much detail that you need to look into when emceeing for a roadshow event? The tone of your voice, your body language, how perky you should sound like in attracting crowds. What about the seriousness of your voice during a corporate event? The little fidgeting gestures that you aren’t consciously aware of? You will only get to know these by getting comments from a professional.
As I was mentioning about nervousness in the beginning, it was more than a true horror….for me (hahaha). In fact, I was a bundle of nerves when it came to the role playing session! Having been on stage emceeing for weddings, annual dinner and roadshows, being stationed on the stage of the academy waiting for my teacher to make comments and critics wasn’t an easy thing to do. But then again, what is there to lose when you get to improve after that?
Despite me being anxious throughout the course, I was lucky to be grouped with three amazing ladies who aren’t just confident and charismatic but helpful and courteous as well. The role play wouldn’t be a smooth one for me if not for my lovely groupmates. Working together and brainstorming throughout the roleplaying was amazingly helpful in learning from one another.
Teamwork and team spirit are highly encouraged during the class. Most of the tasks and role play given required group work which brought the whole class together. Due to that, the class was filled with energy and hype especially whenever the special song was being played every time after a break to gather back our attention. There was this positive and supportive environment that you could really feel motivated to improve.
To sum up my experience for this course, the content is highly engaging, hands-on tasks are thoroughly productive, notes given are sufficiently informative and a great breakthrough for me in my emceeing career.
Am I still nervous after the class? Well, as far as I know, my confidence is back and I have honestly able to use that to counterattack the nerves I'm feeling within.
The thing is, who knows all these little fundamentals of emceeing can be so beneficial? Regardless of your experience as an emcee, the knowledge gained from this course is invaluable. You could be using this skill in anywhere not just on stage. A simple but high impact sales presentation; a live broadcast in social media; presenting as a charismatic individual, all these can be trained through our intensive 2-day course.
